How we got our start

The OathKeepers Causeplay was founded in 2014. It was named by our founder’s son Nerov, who believed that people should work as a team, to create a better place in their communities, to be held to an oath that they make to help those around them, and to be part of something bigger than themselves. An Oath to bring smiles to those who need them. Nerov was an upstanding citizen who loved costuming, and his community. Nerov was a US Army Combat Medic and Nerov passed away in 2016.

New name, who dis?

WE ARE 3C CausePlay, for those of you that notice something familiar about our Logo. Our costuming group got caught up in a Facebook social media sweep. On August 19th 2020, Facebook did a purge of any group or pages that was considered a “hate” group. Unfortunately, we got mistakenly included with the purge based off our name The OathKeepers Causeplay. (TOKCP) Sadly, we shared part of our name with another group that is classified as a hate or domestic terrorist organization. Anyone who has worked with us knows, that we are not a hate group. We are very far from it. Along with the Facebook pages for our group, all of the admins personal Facebook accounts were purged as well. No email warning, no notice, no reason, just our families wondering what happened to us. We appealed through the webpage channels and we received no responses from Facebook. So, with no recourse but to “rebrand” we thought hard about the name Nerov had chosen, the course he wanted to group to take, the meaning behind what he wanted to convey… part of our slogan was Community. Charity. Commitment. It is the overabundance of love for our community. All of which embodied what we stand for. SO… after a hard decision to veer away from out name that we loved so much, we decided on 3C CausePlay. To represent those 3 words that each one of us hold dear.

Community, Charity, Commitment!

The OathKeepers Causeplay was a collection of volunteers who dress in costume. These costumes came from a wide variety of popular fandoms and were kid friendly. Costumers were expected to uphold a high standard of integrity and compassion when out in the field. We work with various charities and community groups across the state of Colorado, and beyond. Some of our past events have been held at Children’s Hospital Colorado, multiple outdoor events such as the annual MDA race/walk, and Night to Shine. We also participate in Honor Flight Welcome Home ceremonies for WWII, Vietnam, and Korea War Veterans, and the annual Special Olympics Plane Pull at DIA. Even though the pandemic cancelled most large events, we still were able to surprise families at home with a parade of heroes. Members of The OathKeepers Causeplay, along with several other amazing volunteer groups (Geek Garage, 501st Legion Mountain Garrison, Mountain Base Rebel Legion just to name a few), visited 12 cities, 32 homes/neighborhoods and drove over 300 miles in three days to bring joy to children who were fighting cancer.

We are back! New name, same great commitment!

We hope that you will welcome us back and help us do the thing that we love to do most. Share smiles, make memories and create magic for any that need a bright spot in their day!
